Dear Colleagues,

2008 marks 25 years of service from The Interfaith Nutrition Network , The INN, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the issues of hunger and homelessness on Long Island. The INN provides two Emergency Shelters which house 10 families each. Every month about 4-5 families from each shelter manage to move through their crisis stage with the help of The INN’s services and secure permanent housing. Still struggling financially to provide food and shelter for themselves, little is left over for other essentials, such as cleaning products.

That’s where we come in. In our efforts to support affordable housing on Long Island, the Community Outreach Committee is asking you to please bring donations of cleaning supplies to All College Day on March 11. The INN requested no ammonia based cleaning supplies because many of the people who will be receiving them are in poor health given the conditions that they have had to endure, and many are prone to very serious asthma attacks (especially the elderly and the children). Therefore they are asking that we collect citrus based cleaning products. They also need things like sponges and mops – basically, the items anyone would need when moving into a new home.

We hope you will join us in supporting fellow Long Islanders in need this Tuesday. Beyond that, The INN is always grateful to receive assistance both in time and talent and in various donations.
