To help you stay organized in this extraordinarily disrupted semester, the FA has emailed updated pages of the annual wall calendar that reflect the deadline extensions we've negotiated to help everyone stay organized. Click here if you need a copy.

And we have updated it again to reflect May 22 as the last day of classes. The college announced via email on April 15 that "In addition to May 20, the calendar provides May 21 and May 22 as additional days faculty can use to make up lost instruction time from the extended spring break."

Below is a chronological list of important dates to know.

  • April 15—Grant promotion workshop: Executive Vice President Courtney Brewer sent a missive to the Grant Campus with information for members to participate in a promotion workshop via Zoom from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

  • April 16—Executive Council meeting: This month's EC meeting was rescheduled to April 16 at 3:45 via Zoom. Contact your assigned EC rep if you have questions or concerns.

  • April 17—FA retirement workshop: FA Secretary Cynthia Eaton will host the annual retirement workshop this year via Zoom, featuring Gerry McGahran of Stacey Braun Associates, Margaret Ann DeMarzo & Susan DiFiore of EMHP and Mary Kaffaga of the FA Benefit Fund. Check for her April 9 email or contact Cynthia for the Zoom meeting information.

  • April 24—Full-time faculty overload accept/decline for fall: Full-time members should log in and accept or decline their fall 2020 assignment offerings by April 24.

  • April 28—FA contract due for vote at Suffolk County Legislature: We understand from the Suffolk County Legislature that our contract proposal is due for a vote on Tuesday, April 28. If this happens as expected, we will notify the membership of the results as soon as possible.

  • April 29—Eastern and Ammerman promotion workshop: Executive Vice President Courtney Brewer will send an email to Eastern and Ammerman faculty with information to participate in a promotion workshop via Zoom from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

  • April 30—Faculty development and retraining deadline: FA Secretary Cynthia Eaton and SCCC Vice President Paul Beaudin have agreed to extend the deadline for applications for the annual faculty development and retraining applications. Applications can be placed for summer 2020, fall 2020, spring 2021 and summer 2021.

  • May 1—Adjunct faculty assignments posted: Adjunct members should log in and check the posted assignments for both summer and fall 2020 starting on May 1.

  • May 8—Full-time faculty overload accept/decline for summer: Full-time members should log in and accept or decline their summer 2020 assignment offerings by May 8.

  • May 14—Executive Council meeting: The May 14 EC meeting will take place via Zoom on from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. Contact your assigned EC rep if you have questions or concerns.

  • May 20—Adjunct faculty accept/decline for summer and fall: Adjunct members should log in and accept or decline their fall and summer 2020 assignment offerings by May 20.

  • May 29—Executive Council meeting: The May 29 EC meeting will take place via Zoom on starting at 1 p.m. Contact your assigned EC rep if you have questions or concerns.

  • June 1—Prescription copayment reimbursement: The trustees of the FA Benefit Fund have voted to extend the deadline for reimbursement for any prescription copayments until Monday, June 1. Keep in mind that Daniel H. Cook must receive it before June 1, though, so we strongly recommend that you get it in the mail by May 18 to give it plenty of time to arrive.

  • June 12—FA Benefit Fund meeting: The quarterly FA Benefit Fund meeting will take place via Zoom on June 12 at 10 a.m.

  • June 15—Deadline for promotion page 1 submission: The FA voted to extend promotion deadlines for our members, so those intending to put in for promotion this year should submit their page 1 by June 15.

  • June 23—Election primary vote in New York State: Governor Cuomo has issued executive order postponing the April 28 presidential primary vote to June 23. There are new COVID-19 absentee ballot rules for the primary, the most important of which is that all eligible voters can request and vote by absentee ballot. Here's how you can request one from home:
    1. Download an absentee ballot request form (English formSpanish form).
    2. Fill in temporary illness box in section 1.
    3. Provide all other information on the form.
    4. Save and email the form as an attachment to boeinfo@suffolkcountyny.gov.

    You will receive an official paper ballot in the mail within two weeks of the election. Please note that you must be registered to vote in order to receive an absentee ballot; to check if you are registered to vote, visit Lookup your Voter Registration and Polling Place. Registration forms (English formSpanish formcannot be completed online. You can print out this form and mail it to the Board of Elections (P.O. Box 700, Yaphank NY, 11980) or visit the NYS DMV website and register.

  • July 15—Deadline for complete promotion A Form submission: In keeping with the FA's decision to allow more time for our members, the fully completed A Forms for promotion will be due on July 15 this year.
