Celebrating faculty promotions
Courtney Brewer

  Congratulations with fireworks

A lot has happened since March. Members who entered the promotion process last year spent the summer waiting to hear the status of their promotions. After many inquiries that ended with “we’re working on it,” I’m excited to congratulate our members who have succeeded in advancing to the next rank in their professional career.

We were unsure of the status of promotions for several months, but the FA did indeed work on it and was able to secure pro-motions as part of our MOA with administration. Promotions were always an important point for us in the negotiations: It is a major milestone in one’s career, and members are worthy of recognition for their outstanding contributions to the college.

Service to the college, service to the community, and personal and professional growth are areas assessed during promotion. Our members are excelling in all three areas, not only going above and beyond in their roles on campus but also shining a light on the value and excellence of the college to the communities in which they live and work.
Promotion workshops are offered each spring, and I urge any member to attend one. Even if you are not scheduled to apply for promotion in the spring, attending the workshop is an excellent way to get helpful information on how best to position yourself for future success in the promotion process.

Promotion workshop dates will be announced early in the spring semester. In the meantime, please join me and the FA Executive Council in congratulating our members on their promotions this year!
