  • Friendly reminder about tuition reimbursement: A few issues have arisen with regard to members atttaining reimbursement for their dependents' tuition. Please know that members must receive prior approval for all courses before they, their spouses or domestic partners, or their dependents enroll in a course for which you'd like to receive tuition reimbursement.

  • NYSUT sponsors local student debt clinics: Our NYSUT regional office is hosting some clinics designed to help our members—and their immediate family members—manage their student loan debt. These free clinics will run for approximately one hour followed by a Q&A session. If members attend a free seminar, the NYSUT affiliated Cambridge Credit Counseling will waive the $15 fee typically charged to download the member's student debt to a portal. A portal report with the specific loan data is sent to a counselor who can then provide a free one-on-one counseling session and a complete review of finances. Here are the upcoming meeting dates. Email Anita for the Zoom links!
    • February 24, 5 to 7 pm
    • April 20, 5 to 7 pm
    • May 13, 5 to 7 pm
  •   NYSUT MAC

Fax your elected representatives to make the ultra wealthy pay their fair share: The NYSUT Member Action Center (MAC) has a prepared letter to that you can use to easily fax your elected officials. It argues that since the 2021-22 executive budget includes cuts to programs such as expense-based aids for public schools, higher education and educator professional development, our elected representatives should "support the passage of four revenue enhancers: a progressive income tax for those with incomes over $5 million; a pied-à-terre tax on luxury second homes in New York City; a tax on the wealth of billionaires; and a return to the state corporate tax levels of 2017." Log into the MAC today to complete and send your letter. It's quick and easy, and we hear from legislators that they definitely notice, especially when these missives come in to their offices in volume.

  • Finding your total annual dues for your taxes: There's a new way to find your total amount of dues paid from January to December 2020 for tax filing purposes: In MySCCC, click the Employees tab, then click into the Employee Dashboard. There you'll find a Deductions History link with the information you need.

  • Prescription drug claim forms: Prescription drug claims for 2020 must be received by Daniel H. Cook by April 30, 2021. The form is available at the Benefit Fund office, Southampton 224D (Ammerman).

  • EMHP claim forms: Faculty must submit all unpaid 2020 medical claims to Empire Blue Cross by March 31, 2021, to receive reimbursement for covered out-of-pocket expenses. Forms are on the EMHP website: www.emhp.org/members.aspx..

  • Update your personal email with the FA, please: The FA would like members to update their personal, non-SCCC email address with the FA. Please call (631-451-4151) or email Anita to do so. Thank you!
