FYI: Highlights from the Executive Council and other news of note

  • Sabbatical applications: This year’s sabbatical applications will be due before 10/17 because 10/15 falls on a Saturday this year. The annual workshops will be held via Zoom on 9/21 at 11 a.m. and 9/23 at 10 a.m. as well as at Ammerman on 9/20 at 4 p.m. in Southampton 209. Details are in an email from Cynthia Eaton.

  • Student loan debt seminars 9/15, 9/22, 9/28, 10/6 and 10/13: You should see the smiles on the faces of colleagues who are finally achieving some student loan forgiveness due to their public service employment! NYSUT is hosting a series of live webinars this month for members, so you can get straight answers to your student loan questions. Register on the NYSUT Student Loan Debt Seminars website.

  • Pay date information: There will be seven adjunct/overload paychecks on the following dates: 10/6, 10/20, 11/3, 11/17, 12/1, 12/15 and 12/29.

    For early end classes, pay dates are 10/6, 10/20, 11/3 and 11/17. For late start classes, pay dates are 11/17, 12/1, 12/15 and 12/29.

    Full-time faculty who are promoted on 9/1/22 will receive their promotion bonuses (5% of base salary) in a separate check on 10/13.

  • Adjunct/overload pay rates: Below are current pay rates by contact hour.

  • Making Strides Against Breast Cancer on 10/1: Join Team FA and walk with our NYSUT brothers and sisters to raise money for research and provide support for cancer patients in our community.

    This year’s Making Strides will be held on Saturday, 10/1, at 10 a.m. in downtown Riverhead, beginning at Grangabel Park. Join and/or support Team FA. Each year we raise more than $1,000 for this worthy cause! For more information contact Joan Cook at joanc@fascc.org.
  • Update to 2022-23 academic year holidays: In the June issue of The WORD, we reported that the list of academic year holidays had yet not been released from Human Resources. Below is the finalized list for this academic year. You can find the N and U days on the FA website or on the SCCC Human Resources website.
