Don't forget to vote in the FA election!
Kerry Carlson

  May 7 is election deadline

Ballots are due in the FA post office box before noon on Friday, May 7. Mail them back with plenty of time to spare! It pains us to see ballots come in after the deadline. Thank you!

By now all eligible FA members should have received an election ballot.

Our election announcement and timeline was published in The WORD and emailed in February

This election season we have the six FA officer positions up for election as well as seven candidates running for three AFT/NYSUT delegate spots. Although the officer positions are all uncontested, our election procedures require an election be held for those positions.

The EC area representatives that were up for election were all uncontested, so no election is required.

Pursuant to Article II of the FA Constitution and Bylaws, our FA officers also serve as delegates to the NYSUT Representative Assembly and AFT Convention, and we elect three non-officers to serve as delegates to these state (NYSUT) and national (AFT) policy-making conventions as well. The delegate election is a contested election. Again, we have seven candidates nominated for the three open spots, so we need your vote!

All ballots must be mailed to the FA post office box and received by May 7, 2021, before 12 noon, which is why we say the due date is May 7 at 11 a.m. We want it to arrive in plenty of time.

The ballots will be picked up by me, the elections committee acting chair, and at least one other committee member on May 7 at noon. The ballots will be counted that day by the members of the election committee and the counts will be certified in accordance with the FA Election Procedures.

Make sure your voice is heard! If you haven't done so already, cast your ballot today!
