The college has just announced the list of newly promoted full-time faculty, a welcome spot of good news to those who began the process last fall. Adjunct promotions which were delayed have finally been settled as well, after the FA negotiated an agreement with the college. Congratulations to all who earned their promotion in this latest cycle!

Spring promotion workshops scheduled

Recently all full-time faculty received an email from the FA informing them of the promotion workshops which have been scheduled for this month. The workshops will be held on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. via Zoom as follows:

  • 2/10 Ammerman with Dean Rios
  • 2/17 Grant with Dean Ciampa
  • 2/24 Eastern with Dean Reese

An invitation to the 2/10 workshop was emailed; subsequent invitations will follow.
Please note, faculty can attend any workshop they would like since they are not restricted by campus. Each of the deans has experience with the promotion process and can offer useful tips and advice.

The workshop will include many of the details and eligibility requirements needed for promotion at various levels, i.e., classroom and non-classroom faculty, PAs, and specialists.

The expectations for promotion are different for each rank, so even if you’ve attended a workshop in the past, it’s still a great resource for important information you will need to know.

Service to the college, service to the community, and personal and professional growth are areas assessed during promotion. Our members are excelling in all three areas, not only going above and beyond in their roles on campus and in their virtual classrooms, but also shining a light on the value and excellence of the college to the communities in which they live and work. Promotion is an important recognition, and anyone who is eligible in the upcoming cycle should consider applying.

Promotion workshops are offered each spring, and I urge any member to attend one. Even if you are not scheduled to apply for promotion in the spring, attending the workshop is an excellent way to get helpful information on how best to position yourself for future success in the promotion process. While the workshop is largely geared toward full-time faculty, adjunct faculty should not hesitate to contact me with any questions they have about the adjunct promotions process.

Eligibility for adjuncts and full-time faculty

If you are unsure of whether or not you are eligible to apply for promotion, eligibility letters will be sent from the office of your Executive Dean in March. Those who meet time-in-rank and educational requirements as outlined in our promotions guidebook will receive notification.

If you are full time and plan to apply, remember that although the full application is not due until June 15, you must submit the cover page of the A Form to your campus executive dean’s office by May 15, 2021.

If you are an adjunct, the full application is due by March 13, 2021.
