FYI: Highlights from the Executive Council and other news of note

 

TEAM FA at Jones Beach for Making Strides

  • TEAM FA participates in two October Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks: While TEAM FA walkers have unlaced their shoes, you can still donate before December 31. Follow the links for the teams below:

  • On October 15, a dozen FA members walked among an estimated 65,000 on the Jones Beach boardwalk for Making Strides. Organized by Joan Cook, the FA raised $1,460 for this event. Donate to the Jones Beach team at main.acsevents.org/goto/fascc.

  • On October 22, the Eastern Campus FA team, led by Misty Curreli and Cynthia Eaton, walked alongside approximately 3,000 amid the fall foliage on the Riverhead campus for the Eastern LI Making Strides event. The FA raised $1,220 for this event. Donate to the Eastern Campus team at main.acsevents.org/goto/eastendfriends.

    Priority registration begins November 6: The FA and college request your support in sharing information on priority registration with your students. Encourage your students to meet with an advisor now and to register during the time frame that is especially designed for them (they'll see their dates when they log in to MySCCC) to ensure that they are not closed out of the courses they need. Students may visit an Academic Advising and Mentoring Center, faculty member or counseling center now for advisement.

  • Check your accruals: The FA reminds members periodically to check the number of their accrued vacation and sick days in MySCCC.

  • FA demographics: The following chart provides a demographic snapshot of our membership by rank. Please note that ranks of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor and professor include both classroom and non-classroom faculty:
