Professors on Wheels

Professors on Wheels graduation

The Faculty Association’s Professors on Wheels program proudly serves Suffolk County residents by providing them with a variety of presentations, programs, and enrichment boxes.  Participating FA members generously offer their contributions to senior centers, nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, libraries and community centers. This rewarding outreach ensures that our college and community remain strongly connected.

Presentations & Programs

If you have a presentation or program that you would like to share with members of our community, please contact Fabio Montella. Topics can vary greatly and all suggestions are welcome.  The more diverse, the better! If you have something in mind, please let us know.

Virtual Presentations

While we do prefer that presentation are delivered in person, we understand that doing so is not always possible. For this reason, we offer virtual presentations when needed.

  • You can opt to record a presentation to be shared with our partner organizations via a private YouTube channel that can be accessed at the assisted-living facilities. Your intellectual property will not be open to the public, as it will only be streamed on the in-house channel of our partner organizations.
  • Or, if you’d prefer to do a live virtual presentation, such as via Zoom, that can be coordinated that with area libraries as well. Interested parties should email Fabio Montella.

Enrichment Boxes

Think of these as care packages for our senior friends in facilities we’ve worked with in the past. Below is their wish list of desired items. Perhaps you’d be willing to purchase and donate some? All contributions are greatly appreciated.

  • Large print crossword puzzles, word search, sudoku
  • Small crafts
  • Coloring crafts: adult coloring books, coloring pencils, markers
  • Decks of cards
  • Inspirational reading, e.g., “chicken soup for the soul” books
  • Trivia (not too current)
  • Board games (large print preferred)
  • DVDs
  • Puzzles
  • Magazines, especially science (AstronomyDiscoverScientific American), financial, and current events (TimeNewsweekU.S. News & World Report)
  • Letters from you expressing good wishes and care.

If you would like to donate any of these items, please email Fabio Montella, our current coordinator to arrange delivery options and help bring a smile to senior residents.

On behalf of the FA, we thank all past and future presenters for their contributions to improving the quality of life for our fellow Suffolk County residents.
